We're starting to see some early anvils blowing off of the increasingly agitated cumulus field across eastern Iowa with the first blips beginning to show up on radar as well. This is likely the first signs of thunderstorm initiation for today's event across northern Illinois and surrounding portions of eastern Iowa and southeastern Wisconsin.
Moisture is still struggling a bit to lift northward, but those shear profiles are really eye-popping. Plenty there to support low-topped supercells should a few robusts updrafts begin to sustain themselves.
