I was at the "Snow Bowl" Illinois Football Game | Winter Storm Blasts the Midwest With Wind + Snow

A classic winter storm rolled through the Midwest on Saturday, November 29th, 2025 with high winds and heavy snow.

I enjoyed the winter storm after a long week of forecasting it in the way that I like enjoying winter storms... wandering around in them.

What a unique experience to be able to attend the Illinois vs Northwestern football game at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, IL during the winter storm. The University only allowed seating on the west lower level of the stadium, but there was a packed crowd where we were allowed to be. I've been an Illini fan since I was an impressionable kid in the 90s and I've never attended a football game like this one!
