Today's Weather Summary:
It'll feel a bit like spring across the Ohio Valley today with warm and humid air accompanied by periods of heavy rain and a few rumbles of thunder. A corridor of 0.5" to 1.5" rainfall totals is expected through Monday night, but no organized severe thunderstorms are expected.
Dense fog will slow the Monday morning commute across a large swath of central and northern Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and smaller chunks of Michigan and Ohio.
As a cold front sweeps into the region, conditions will begin to clear from west to east.
Look for high temperatures in the 30s and 40s from Omaha to Minneapolis and Madison, with milder afternoon temperatures in the 50s and 60s in the Chicago, Indianapolis, Kansas City, and St. Louis metros. Tomorrow will be much colder region wide.
Brain Dump:
Anecdotally, as dense fog settled in over my corner of central Illinois last night, it was remarkable how dense but shallow the fog layer was. It was hard to see ten feet in front of you, yet you could see the moon and several stars shining overhead. I snapped this photo out in rural Champaign County around 8 PM:
